About Nesake Hole Wars
Nesake Hole Wars drops you into Nesake City as a pinhole-sized black hole with a big appetite. Roll over coins, cones and bicycles to grow, then work your way up to cars, buses and buildings as your hole gets bigger. Six AI rivals are doing the same thing, and any hole big enough to swallow you will try. Matches run a tight two minutes, so every second of grazing, growing and hunting counts toward the final score.
How to Play
- Move your hole around the arena.
- Eat small objects to start growing.
- Grow bigger to unlock bigger meals.
- Eat larger objects — cars, vans, buses — as your size allows.
- Avoid rival holes that are bigger than you.
- Consume rival holes that are smaller than you.
- Rack up the highest score before the 2‑minute timer hits zero.
Controls
Desktop
Move the mouse to steer, or use WASD / Arrow keys. Both work at the same time — use whichever feels better.
Mobile
Drag anywhere on screen with your thumb to steer with a virtual joystick. One‑handed play, no tiny buttons.
What Can You Eat?
Hole Wars uses a progressive size system: your hole can only swallow things close to its own size or smaller, so bigger meals become available as you grow. You start small enough to graze on coins, cans, cones, tires, crates and flowers scattered around the arena — none of those require any growth at all. A little bigger and street-level objects like bins, benches, planters and signboards open up, followed by bicycles and scooters. Keep growing and you'll be able to take on rickshaws, cars and street carts, then vans, trucks and buses. The very largest holes can even swallow billboards and full buildings. The minimap's density shading only ever highlights objects you're currently big enough to eat, so it updates automatically as you grow.
How to Win at Hole Wars
- Start by clearing the small objects right around your spawn point — there's always a cluster nearby, and it's the fastest way to your first size milestone.
- Grow before you challenge anything close to your own size. A hole needs a real size edge to safely eat a rival — near-equal sizes are dangerous for both of you.
- Give larger holes a wide berth. Fleeing early is almost always better than fleeing late.
- Check the minimap for brighter regions — that's where objects are currently concentrated, worth the detour.
- Chain your eats. Consuming objects back-to-back builds a combo multiplier, so a quick cluster is worth more than the same objects eaten slowly.
- Play the clock. In the closing seconds, weigh a safe last few bites against a risky rival kill — the bonus for eating a rival hole is large, but only if you're sure you're bigger.
Hole Wars Strategy Guide
New players tend to lose matches by growing too slowly early on or by picking fights they can't win late. The opening 15–20 seconds are the most forgiving part of the match — AI opponents are focused on their own growth too, so this is the safest window to graze aggressively and bank easy size gains. As the match moves into its middle third, start paying attention to nearby rivals' relative size before committing to a direction; a hole that looks even slightly bigger than you is a hole to avoid. By the final third, the strongest players on the leaderboard become genuine threats, but so do you — a well-timed rival kill in the last 30 seconds can swing the final ranking more than several rounds of small objects. Balance steady growth with situational awareness, and use the leaderboard and minimap together: the leaderboard tells you who's dangerous, the minimap tells you where it's worth going next.
Playing Hole Wars on Mobile and Desktop
Hole Wars is built to feel native on whichever device you're using. On mobile, dragging a thumb anywhere on the screen creates a virtual joystick right where you touched, so there's no need to reach for a fixed control — the whole screen is your movement area, and the layout is fully responsive to your device's viewport. On desktop, the hole follows your mouse directly, or you can drive with WASD or the arrow keys — both work together, so you can switch mid-match without missing a beat. Either way, you can pause at any point with the in-game pause button, which fully freezes the match — timer, AI, and all — until you're ready to resume or restart.

FAQ
How do I grow my hole?
Roll over objects that are small enough for your current size. Each one you swallow adds to your score and grows your hole a little, which in turn unlocks bigger objects.
Can I eat another hole?
Yes — if your hole is enough bigger than a rival's, moving into it consumes them for a large score and growth bonus. If they're bigger than you, steer clear.
Does the game work on mobile?
Yes. Nesake Hole Wars is built for touch from the ground up, with a full-screen canvas and a drag-to-move virtual joystick.
How long is a match?
Each match lasts two minutes. When the timer hits zero you'll see your final score, rank, and stats, with a one-tap Play Again.
Can I play without creating an account?
Yes. There's no login, no sign-up, and no download — just press Play. Your best score is optionally remembered on this device.
Can I install Hole Wars like an app?
On supported browsers (including Android Chrome and desktop Chrome/Edge), you can install Hole Wars to your home screen or app list for quick access. It still runs entirely in the browser — no app store needed.
