Our mission

Most software today optimises for engagement metrics, not for the person using it. We build the opposite: tools that respect your time, your attention, and your data. Every Nesake product is built to be fast, private, and useful — nothing more, nothing less.

What we build

Our catalogue spans encrypted home inventory (Gharlog), browser-based document editing (Marginal), a growing Utility Hub of free calculators and converters, and casual browser games. Everything ships on the web first, with PWA and Android where it makes sense.

Who we are

Nesake began in 2025 as a set of scripts one person kept rewriting: a GST calculator that did not nag for an email, a way to keep track of appliance warranties before a claim went stale, a PDF merge that did not involve uploading a rental agreement to an unknown server. Publishing them properly turned out to be more useful than keeping them local, and the catalogue grew from there — one tool at a time, each one shipped only when it was genuinely finished.

Nesake is a small, independent team based in India, shipping to a global audience. We are founder-run, fully bootstrapped, and answer only to the people who use our software.

Our vision

We want Nesake to be the place people reach for when they need a small job done well — a calculation checked, a document marked up, a photo cleaned, an inventory kept — without surrendering a file, an email address, or ten seconds of loading time. Concretely, that means a catalogue of tools that stay free at the point of use, keep working offline, and are documented well enough that you learn something by using them.

Development philosophy

We build in small, reversible increments. A tool ships when its core job is complete and correct, not when a launch date arrives. Wherever a tool computes something, we publish the formula or the method on the page so it can be checked. Performance is treated as a feature: static-first rendering, code splitting, lazy-loaded media, and a strict budget on third-party scripts. And we keep old URLs alive — if something is deprecated we say so on the page rather than quietly deleting it.

Technology stack

The site and most apps are built with React and TypeScript on TanStack Start, styled with Tailwind CSS, and deployed to an edge runtime so pages render close to the visitor. File processing runs client-side: Canvas and WebAssembly for image compression, enhancement, and AI background removal; browser PDF and DOCX libraries for Marginal and the PDF suite. Where an app needs accounts or sync, we use managed Postgres with row-level security policies and hashed credentials. Games are plain HTML5 and Canvas, packaged as installable progressive web apps with offline caching.

Roadmap

Published so you can hold us to it, and revised as priorities change:

• Deeper documentation for every live tool, including worked examples.
• Offline support across the whole Utility Hub, not only the games and PWAs.
• More developer utilities: JSON formatter, UUID generator, password generator.
• Barcode generation alongside the existing QR tool.
• Gharlog export and backup formats, plus shared household access.
• Additional casual game titles, each installable and ad-supported rather than paywalled.
