How to play

Five changes, one clear head.

  1. 01Open the game — it loads straight in the browser, with no account or download step.
  2. 02Study the two scenes side by side. On a phone they stack vertically; on desktop they sit next to each other.
  3. 03Tap or click the exact spot where you see a change. A correct hit is marked on both images.
  4. 04Find all five differences before your lives run out. A wrong tap costs a life, so look before you commit.
  5. 05Clear the board to move to the next scene, or come back tomorrow for the daily challenge.

There is no timer pressure in the standard mode — lives, not the clock, decide the round — so the game works equally well as a two-minute break or a longer session.

Tips and strategy

How experienced players find all five faster.

  • Scan in a fixed pattern — left column, right column, then the middle — instead of jumping around at random.
  • Differences are usually a colour swap, a missing object, a resized object or a mirrored detail. Learn the four types and you spot them faster.
  • Check edges and corners last-minute; they hide the change most players miss.
  • If you stall, defocus your eyes slightly. Shape changes pop out of a blurred image.
  • Accuracy beats speed on the leaderboard, so a two-second pause before a doubtful tap is usually worth it.

Difficulty

It ramps, it does not spike.

Easy scenes use large objects and strong colour contrast, so most players clear them in under a minute. They exist to teach you what a “difference” looks like in this game.

Medium scenes shrink the changed region and hide it inside detailed backgrounds — foliage, crowds, patterned walls — where your eye naturally skips.

Hard scenes use subtle shifts: a slightly different shade, an object nudged a few pixels, a reflection that no longer matches. Lives matter here, and a careless tap is expensive.

FAQ

Questions players ask.

Is Spot the Difference free to play?

Yes. The game is completely free, needs no account and has no paid unlocks. Pages on Nesake carry advertising, which is what keeps the games free.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in any modern browser on Android, iOS, Windows, macOS or Linux. There is no app store download and nothing to update.

How many differences are there in each scene?

Five per board. Every difference is genuinely visible — none of them require zooming to a single pixel.

How is the difficulty decided?

Early scenes use large, obvious changes to teach the four difference types. Later scenes shrink the changed area, reduce colour contrast and place changes in busy parts of the image, so the same five differences take longer to find.

Does the game collect my data?

Gameplay progress stays in your browser. Nesake does not ask for a name, email or phone number to play. Advertising and analytics are described in our privacy policy.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes. The layout stacks the two scenes vertically on small screens and tap targets are sized for a thumb.
